Activist's Journey To Life: Day 528: The Value of Validation

"Obviously just because we feel rewarded or "good" about something doesn't mean that it is actually "good" for us. What I have come to recognise from my own childhood is that all the rewarding and congratulations that I got for every little thing I did caused me to start doing things not because I enjoyed them, but because I wanted that positive feeling of being rewarded."

What You Need to Earn to Rent a Decent One-Bedroom in America

"Unsurprisingly, the “housing wage” is much higher than the minimum wage in much of the country.… As a commentary on the national minimum-wage debate, this map is limited. While it suggests that a minimum-wage worker can’t afford housing in Seattle (where the one-bedroom housing wage is $17.56 an hour), in reality that person probably finds housing by renting a room in someone else’s home, by living in the cheapest part of town, or by working considerably more than 40 hours a week." Being local to Seattle I can attest to this - I know many individuals who rent rooms or live farther away in cheaper areas and commute to city jobs, to be able to afford rent on low incomes.

Seven in 10 families struggle to get an hour a day together with work and household chores...

'Most parents spend less than one hour a day of quality time a day with their children as they race to fit in work and all the chores involved in running a home, a survey has found. Mornings are a frantic battle to get everyone dressed, fed and out of the door in time for work and school, leaving little time for any kind of meaningful conversation. Return value and meaning to Life with an #livingincomeguaranteed '

War Propaganda

The blatant distortion of the truth and the systematic manipulation of all sources of information is an integral part of war planning … Acts of war are heralded as “humanitarian interventions” geared towards “regime change” and “the restoration of democracy”. Military occupation and the killing of civilians are presented as “peace-keeping”. The derogation of civil liberties –in the context of the so-called “anti-terrorist legislation”– is portrayed as a means to providing “domestic security” and upholding civil liberties … Twisting of public opinion at home and around the World, is an integral part of the War agenda, War propaganda is pursued at all stages: before, during the military operation as well as in its cruel aftermath. War propaganda serves to drown the real causes and consequences of war … The most powerful component of the Fear and Disinformation Campaign (FDI) rests with the CIA, which, secretly subsidizes authors, journalists and media critics, through a web of private foundations and CIA sponsored front organizations. The CIA also influences the scope and direction of many Hollywood productions. Since 9/11, one third of Hollywood productions are war movies … Covert disinformation initiatives under CIA auspices are also funneled through various intelligence proxies in other countries … The propaganda campaign is geared towards sustaining the illusion that “America is under attack” … these “fabricated realities” portray the war as a bona fide act of self-defense, while carefully concealing the broad strategic and economic objectives of the war …

Golden parachute for fired Yahoo executive may be record breaker

Maybe we should all get bonuses when we're fired? And some worry that a Living Income would be a disincentive to work, but how about getting paid when you get fired? That seems totally backwards.. How does a person get paid exorbitantly for a job they aren't doing, when so many don't get paid Enough to live for the hard work they ARE doing?

Cultivating Social Change Through Education: DAY 80

"The structures and systems are coming from within us and not (at least in this context) from for example observing nature and how it operates. When we create hierarchical structures where some workers are considered less valuable and than others and therefore earn less, it is because that is how we have come to think and see each other as human beings in this world. This is why hierarchies and inequality re-emerges, even when the formal structure of hierarchy is removed from for example a business structure. And here we are not only talking about traits of human nature, like greed or inequality that are directly taught to us in our life time from parents and schools. We are talking about centuries of cultivation causing these traits to become embedded into our biocultural nature, as Johnson would put it. Human traits such as greed, self-interest and inequality is embedded into every aspect of human life, from our inner thought-processes to how we structure our physical environments. As such, it is not possible to simply remove one part of the equation and expect the rest to naturally change as well. Cultivating ourselves as human beings into what it is we exist as today has been a long process and changing that therefore obviously is going to take time and diligence. One of the most effective and imperative ways of eliciting social change is through Education."

The Flexibility of Youth - Reptilians - Part 282

Why were younger beings more flexible in learning about themselves from each other than older beings who refused to based on how they had fortified their self definition? How does this relate to the younger and older generation of humanity? Why does the Mind misinterpret learning from others and expanding your self-definition and living as a threat to your Personalities, instead of realizing that expanding yourself will contribute to learning so much more about yourself and your life?
